A: Would you like to spend a year at an American senior high school?
B: I’m not sure. On one hand, it sounds exciting because I’d love to experience their school spirit – things like football games, prom, and joining clubs seem fun. Their more relaxed teaching style might be nice too.
A: What worries you about it?
B: Well, the grading system seems stressful – getting evaluated on class participation and constant projects. And I might struggle with English in academic subjects at first. Also, I’d miss my friends here.
A: But you could make new American friends! And think about all the cool electives they offer – maybe you could take photography or theater.
B: That’s true! I’d really like to try their journalism program. Though I’m not very sporty, so mandatory sports might be hard for me.
A: Not all schools require sports, you could join the debate club instead. And living with a host family would help your English improve fast.
B: You’re right. Maybe I should apply! The hardest part would be adjusting to their different schedule – starting so early and having classes until mid-afternoon.
A: But you’d get used to it. And imagine coming back fluent in English with amazing stories!
B: When you put it that way… maybe I will look into exchange programs!
