• Walked heavily, with a limp; seemed tired and slow
• Dirty and ragged clothes; face was pale and fearful; eyes wild and restless
• Spoke in a low, growling voice; muttered angrily but sometimes pleaded
• Nervous and suspicious; kept looking around; sometimes shivered as if cold or scared

The convict walked heavily, limping as if he was injured or tired. He wore dirty, torn clothes that made him look ragged. His face was pale and showed fear, with wild, restless eyes that seemed to watch everything carefully. When he spoke, his voice was low and growling, sometimes angry, but at other times he pleaded quietly. He acted nervously, often looking around as if he was afraid someone was following him, and he shivered as if from cold or fear.  

• I see old, broken tombstones around me. The sky is grey and cloudy. The trees have no leaves and move in the wind. It is dark and a little scary.

• I smell wet grass and earth. There is also a smell of old stones and leaves.

• I hear the wind moving the leaves. Sometimes I hear an owl hooting far away. I can hear my own breathing.

• I feel the cold, hard stone under me. The grass is wet and soft. The air is cold on my skin.

• I feel scared and alone. My heart beats fast. I am cold and nervous, but I try to be quiet and still.
