Describing pictures
When describing a picture, include details about the place, the weather, the people, their clothes and their feelings.
- These are photos from your album. Choose one photo to describe to your friend.
You will have to start speaking in 1.5 minutes and you will speak for not more than 2 minutes (12-15 sentences). In your talk remember to speak about:
- where and when the photo was taken
- what/who is in the photo
- what is happening
- why you keep the photo in your album
- why you decided to show the picture to your friend
You have to talk continuously, starting with: “I’ve chosen photo number …”.
I’ve chosen photo number 1.
As you know, John, I took photography last year. Since then, I’ve taken lots of pictures and it’s one of my best.
I took this photo last winter when I was in Gubakha with my family. I was really impressed by the scene so I decided to capture it. Look! The action is taking place outside, at the ski resort. In the foreground you can see my parents and my siblings posing for my camera, and in the background there is our car. My family and I love skiing and snowboarding together, so we often go to ski resorts in the winter.
I keep this photo in my album because on that day I was driving my dad’s car for the first time and was driving the whole family to the ski resort. It was fantastic!
I decided to show you this photo because you recently asked me where you can go with your family. Maybe this photo will inspire you to go to the ski resort and try skiing or snowboarding with your family members. I recommend you to visit the ski resorts of Sochi and Gubakha.
