Alex: Hi, I’m Alex, you neighbour. Could we have a quick word?  

 

Emma: Certainly, Alex. I’m Emma. What can I do for you?

 

Alex: Do you think you could do something about your dog? Your dog has been barking for hours every morning around 6 AM. The walls are pretty thin in this building.

 

Emma: Oh wow, really? I leave for my morning shift at 5:30… I didn’t realise Belle was carrying on like that.   

 

Alex: Yeah, it’s been making it hard to sleep. I work late shifts at the hospital, so those early mornings are my only rest time.  

 

Emma: Oh, sorry! I didn’t mean to upset you! I’ll try to do something about it. 

 

Alex: That would be amazing, thank you for understanding. I really appreciate you being so reasonable about this. 

 

Emma: You’re welcome! I hope we can be good neighbours. Perhaps I could invite you over for coffee sometime next week? We could get to know each other better. 

 

Alex: That sounds great. Yes, coffee would be nice. How about Wednesday evening?

 

Emma: Perfect! Let’s say 7 PM?

 

Alex: Sounds good. I look forward to it. Have a good day.

 

Emma: You too.
