Imagine you are Tom or Becky. Write a short diary entry about your time in the cave. Read it to your partner.
Today was one of the most frightening and unforgettable days of my life. Becky and I got lost in the cave, and at first, I thought we would never find our way out. The darkness was so thick I could barely see my own hands. I had to fumble my way through the tunnels, following my kite-line as best I could.
Becky was very scared and almost gave up hope, but I kept encouraging her to keep moving. When I finally saw a tiny speck of daylight, I felt a rush of relief and hope. Helping Becky out of the cave was hard, but when we finally emerged and saw the Mississippi River, I knew we were safe.
Even though we were rescued, we were both very weak for several days afterward. I will never forget the feeling of being trapped and the joy of finally escaping. This adventure has taught me a lot about courage and friendship.
