Many life-threatening diseases require expensive procedures, which low-income families simply cannot afford. Secondly, a healthy population benefits the entire society by reducing absenteeism at work and boosting productivity. For example, countries with free healthcare like Canada show higher life expectancy rates compared to nations where medical bills can lead to bankruptcy.
However, opponents claim that free healthcare would overburden the government budget and lead to longer waiting times for procedures. They argue that when services are free, people might overuse them for minor issues, wasting resources.
Nevertheless, I cannot agree with the opinion above because prevention is always cheaper than emergency treatment. Regular check-ups in a free system can detect diseases early, saving money in the long run. Moreover, taxes can be structured progressively so wealthier citizens contribute more, ensuring sustainability.
In conclusion, contrary to what others say, I would like to emphasize that medical care should be free and available to all. Affordable healthcare is not just a privilege — it is a necessity for a thriving society.
