  • since is similar to because, this introduces a subordinate clause explaining the reason. It often suggests that the reason is already known or understood.
  • due to/because of introduce a noun phrase (or a gerund) stating the reason. They are not followed by a clause.    
  • They didn’t go out because it was snowing.
  • They didn’t go out since it was snowing.
  • They didn’t go out due to the snow. 
  • They didn’t go out because of the snow.
  • They didn’t go out due to the fact that it was snowing.

 

  • She didn’t enjoy the party because it was crowded.
  • She didn’t enjoy the party since it was crowded.
  • She didn’t enjoy the party due to the crowds.
